Art in Northern Life

I found these drawings in my friend's web diary. I just felt they were really a something.
My friend, Mikako is an anthropologist who specializes in the ethnology of native people in Yukon, Canada.

In her diary, she recalls her experience from her field study in Yukon.

"In this visit to Yukon, I realized anew that my drawings spoke better than my tongue. I love to draw, and plus it improves powers of observation, so I took time for drawing as much as I could.

I especially drew pictures of animals. Children around there got exited to see my pictures. And then they well figured out that I was an enthusiast about animals rather than an ordinary animal lover. They even corrected my mistakes on drawing of moose or wolves that I didn’t know much of the physical structures. They wanted to give advise to me, without missing any of little my mistakes with serious hunter-eye. From the experience, I noticed that information from real communication with people living in the filed would be great help to improve my hunting skill. I'm so glad that I'm good at drowing."

Dear Bob Brainen

I've listened DJ Bob Brainen's radio program on WFMU for years, in there

he plays 60's rock, soul, folk, cool jazz that I really care of.

His show is also available with realplayer "live" or anytime,

and all of his previous shows and playlists were archived!!

There's another reason why I love his show. That's his voice.

He speaks so calm & slow, unlike the other speak-a-mile-a-minute DJs,

as he was asked in an interview;

JD: No offence Bob, but you don't exactly have a radio voice. I was surprised when I first heard you speak on the air.

BB: How so, or how not? I'm not chirpy? I'm not a 'character?' Yeah, it used to really bother me that I don't sound more excited, but I learned to accept it for what it is. I'm a low key guy, this is how I sound, and this is what I do.

I like the way he talks, it sounds like his voice really matches with mellow jazz.

Besides, the low voice makes me relaxed.

I presume that is the another reason why I've checked his show this long.

And one time he was absent from the show since he was busy to look for his lost cat..

That was kinda cute.

Honey Bar

Here's something I want to share.
This soft, honey-yellow colored solid bar
contains natural butters and oils.
It really makes my skin smoothe, and
its fragrance is not too strong, just right.

Product info:http://www.honey-house.com/

..Honeycomb shape always reminds me some scenes from the movie,
The Spilit of the Beehive(1973) (even I don't remember the story).
